the internet isnt a pub though, plus in a pub you get the benefits of seeing each other face to face so there's a small chance you'll get your head kicked in if the person you speak to doesn't agree with you. Being under the influence possibly wont help very much either but YMMV.

Unless youre going to tell me that fights never break out in pubs? in which case you are proving the point of this thread & also my point by disagreeing with me

It made me almost as depressed as when I learned that "their" is in increasingly-accepted use as a third-person singular gender-neutral pronoun. As a holder of a Linguistics degree, I understand languages change, but why the bloody hell did English have to change in my lifetime, dammit!

The thing that makes me angry is when people use abbreviations and acronyms without explaining what they mean in the first instance.

I find that finding out facts makes me less angry. It's a shame others don't feel the same.

Wray, starting from Spring Wood, Whalley at 10:00 today. Your invite is with everybody else's, in the ride thread, and that is in the usual rides forum!

I know you'll be on your way now so you wont read this till you get back, but i couldn't have made it anyway. The football season starts today and we're at home, so i'm off there instead. I was invited out on another ride today but couldn't make it for the same reason. Damn the football!

I think people say things on a forum that they may not say to your face. Easy to hide behind a keyboard.

I've never heard anything negative said on the internet in 19 years of using it that I haven't heard face to face (and unfortunately many times at that).

I note the use of the word may in your first sentence though, which is fair enough.
