do I leave office now and get soaked, or stay longer?

Go!

go on, go on, go on!

It won't be cold, just wet. Don't worry about waterproofs, you can dry off at home.

I didn't get the choice, we had finished early and the gaffa was itching to get home, If you stop till it stops it will only be waiting for you to leave, then it will pee down. I got caught earlier on in the week, dull and grey when I left work, got about half a mile from home and down it came, heavy rain and hail, I got in looking like a drowned rat.

For me it all depends on whether the satellite shows the rain is going to stop or not in the next 15 mins. But on days when it looks like the rain is going to be set in from the outset... I think I'd rather leave my bike at home and bus it! :becool:

I quite enjoyed my rainy ride in this morning. Nice'n'fresh'n'cool. I also liked the ride home, partly because Doncaster was a bit gridlocked and I luuuuuurve filtering past a mile of standing traffic, and partly because it's a Bank Holiday weekend. 'Woo', and indeed 'Hoo'.

South London was grim earlier tonight. No fun for those of us wearing glasses.
I tried to outrun the rain and failed. I have a great view from my office looking West towards Central London and I could see the most enormous cloud and heavy rain. By the time I had got changed and got on my bike it had arrived at Canary Wharf. It was like riding under Niagra Falls. I thought I had got away by the time I got to the Woolwich Ferry, but it caught up again and probably even worse. I rode for about 30 mins and the roads were like rivers. No point in putting on my waterproofs and at least it was warm.

Update!!!

I had a very eventful ride home.

I waited til about 6.05 wheb there was a break in the weather and went for it, but still got rained on.

Then in my haste to get home I foolishly took a short cut up a one way street in Greenwich. I saw the policeman too late, I got off and walked past him trying to look casual, but he just laughed at me and said too late mate, either turn round or take a £30 fine, which was nice of him. So I turned round.

By the time I got home it was sunny, and to cap it all, when I took my helmet off a bird had crapped on it!!

On the plus side if the rain had been heavier the bird muck would have run through the gaps in your helmet. Not nice.

And also congratulations on winning the award for 'most appropriate avatar image' for 5 minutes!

Please don't tell me it was King William Walk! The only reason it's still one way is because the council haven't got round to changing the signs yet.

Yes I was going up to the park gates along King William Walk, am I allowed to do this?

I wasnt going to argue, he gave me the option of cycling back round past the Ibis hotel and avoided the hassle of a £30 fine

I left at 7.30 and it was warm and sunny in Whitechapel. When I got to London Bridge the heavens opened, but it wasn't that bad and didn't last that long. Then I got to Brixton and it started raining so hard, there was a river running down the hill!

But it was really fun! Felt like a naughty kid. Loved it. Went through my night vision jacket (which is pretty damn waterproof!)

No, you're not allowed to yet. But it's in the plans. And to be honest, the only reason it's a wrong-way one way is because Nevada Street isn't wide enough for two-way motorised traffic. Nothing at all to do with cyclists, who routinely cycle up there and whose only problem is the tourists who walk in the road. Well, over-zealous police on a rainy day can cause problems too, obviously....
