Do I need a Windows 10-specific monitor?

(Apologies for taking over the thread, but it seems as though the original question has already been answered! :okay:)

Two. Compromise is bad.

Maybe this guy's setup is the ultimate in no-compromise?

I just checked the specification of my graphics card - it has a maximum output resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 on each port. So it could do WQHD (2,560 x 1,440) or an 'ultrawide HD' format 2,560 x 1,080, but it couldn't do the ultrawide resolution I have been looking at which is 3,440 x 1,440 (unless I could use both ports together to feed the one monitor?). I don't want to buy a new graphics card as well as the monitor(s).

In terms of screen estate, one WQHD monitor trumps one ultrawide HD monitor and two WQHD monitors trump one 3,440 x 1,440 ultrawide monitor.

I currently have one 1,650 x 1,080 monitor and one 1,440 x 900 monitor. I feel tempted to buy one WQHD monitor for now and to use the higher resolution old monitor alongside it for overspill from the main desktop. I could buy a matching second WQHD monitor later if I felt the need. In fact, I also have a second graphics card that I could install which would let me use two WQHD monitors AND the older monitors. Maybe not ...

Think of the applications you use, do any demand ultra wide? I have an one ultra wide in my setup of 3, but that is for a specific application. For the rest of my work, such as web browsing, writing documents etc, I prefer narrow.

I have just bought FL Studio, digital audio workstation software which is a real pixel hog. Even with the 2 monitors mentioned above I have windows minimised, overlapped or needing lots of scrolling. The more screen area I have, the better, within reason ...

I will probably carry on using my laptop for web browsing, email and document editing.
