The reason I am asking is that I am waiting for a wash cycle to end so that I can rescue this:

Sadly I think it's days are over. I also have a feeling I am going to find a pair of Sony earphones in amongst the washing too. Who's a silly boy then? :cursing:

You will be surprised what can last. Best thing is do not try and turn it on until it has been well and truly dried out. I would suggest 3 days in a bowl of rice inside an airing cupboard. I suspect it is dead though. Headphones will probably be ok, but again, dry them before you try them.

This.

No.1 son's iPod touch survived a similar incident - don't try to switch it on for at least a week. His came back to life after a fortnight in the rice.

a colleague tells a similar tale - left the item in box of rice in the sun by the wundoe for a couple of weeks. I-phone did then work. The chemicals in soap powder won't have helped, but worth a go
