Do industrial design students ever ride bikes?

Industrial designers have been the bane of my life as a project manager. None of them have any concept or concern if what they come up with is either manufacturable or legal, all they want is to see marketing men wet themselves and collect the big pay cheque.

It is then up to proper engineers to try to make their designs work - although I say designs, its just dressing, and departs from the technical brief at the first opportunity, no thought to actually what has to make the thing perform. Then if you do have to modify their 'solution' in any way you are accused of destroying their concept and they flounce off in a huff.

this is the other reason for me quitting transport and product design, i was always mindful of the physical practicality of it.

but the one time i draw something and neglect to show the difference between the top of the hull and where the wheel clearance is i get told there is no way for the amphibious vehicle to turn.

I've got a mate who has a replica light sabre. Much amusement at him running about, after a little encouragement, in his garden waving it about after after a drunken BBQ.

Still, I think you would get more road space in a 'keep away from the nutter on the bike' way

At that price I can get 10 pairs of cycling glasses from EBC and they come with 3 lens colours and can ge replaced without any faffing about. 1 pair will easily last a season.
