I am a cycling commuter myself, but reading this forum can knock your spirits sometimes, what with posts about accidents, abysmal facilities, near-misses and general tales of woe.

So I would just like to lighten things up a bit and say that for the last two mornings I have seen lovely rainbows.

Nature. You can't beat it.

So the answer for me is a definite yes:thumbsup:

even after broken ribs & sprained wrist from a fall, a dooring and my crash on monday.. a definite yes.. wouldn't change it for the world. Highlight of my working day.

It depends when I'm commuting! First thing in the morning, before the rush hour into Portsmouth is just blissful. During the rush hour, when drivers have been sat in their cars for an hour and have covered approximately two miles in that time ... they can get very short tempered!

Thing is, no one posts every day to say 'pretty much nothing of any note happened on my commute today'. They post when either (1) something bad happened, or (2) something humorous happened. So you could be forgiven for thinking that cycle commuting is kind of darkly humorous.

The reality is, I suspect, that its quite a fun and easy way to travel for most of us.

We wouldn't do it if we couldn't fuss

For every complaint, rant and down right dangerous act that people have suffered...we all are still doing it - so it really can't be that bad!

Or we could all be masochists. You just can't be sure

I almost alway enjoy it, despite some reluctant starts and I very much enjoy the physical benefits

And compared to public transport ...

sometimes it's really zen heading into London towards the gherkin against a blue sky

Yes i love commuting but some days you do get fed up with either the weather ( rain,wind,rain,rain...) and definatly bad drivers AND the odd cyclists.
The good times do make up for the bad rides such as stunning sunrises, considerate drivers, beating the traffic jams everytime and the hero points from fellow work mates when it's lashing down outside

I think cycle-commuters are amongst the only people to enjoy or derive benefit from the daily grind of the daily commute. Amen to that.

Thats probably true. If you ask yourself whether you'd enjoy yourself less or more if you got the train, bus or drove, I'll be surprised if many of us would do it any way but by bike!

Used public transport on Wednesday - wind gusting to 50mph and heavy rain, so it was just not safe to cycle. Didn't feel right all day. Enjoyed Thursday's commute all the more in spite of weather that was still far from ideal.

I guess most of us wouldn't do it if we didn't enjoy it.

I have to use a car as part of my job. I cycle first thing before setting off to work and love it. Most mornings these days I look out of the window and think 'oh shoot, should I scrap it for today?'. I always decide to go out anyway and usually do about 10 miles. I wish I could commute because I feel great afterwards and have never once regretted going out for a ride, regardless of the weather. This morning it pissed it down for the last 3 miles, but even that felt great!

I wish I could commute by bike....

I thoroughly enjoy my commuting and although some days are better than others I never think about not doing it, except for illness or having to travel for work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
