Do you bother with repair stuff if riding Marathon + tyres?

It really annoys me (but I don't say anything) when other cyclists ask me if I have a repair outfit and pump too bloody lazy to carry one.

I fitted M+ in May 2009 & had my first puncture middle of last year & that was due to the tyre tread being very worn.
I always carry a p.r.k. & pump

i don't wanna tempt fate by telling you how long its been since i had one but i always carry a spare as tube could weaken over time or valve could become faulty. You never know!

I use Marathon Plus tyres, but have still had punctures, in one case it was a long nail that went straight through: not even these tyres were proof against it. Carrying a spare tube and pump also makes you self-sufficient, otherwise when you do get a puncture, you have to inconvenience other people.

Always carry spare tubes and tools/pump, mostly used to help out others since I got Marathons, but one does not want to tempt fate!

I do, but I haven't had a puncture in nearly 4 years and 16,000 km (albeit on different bikes, so halve that for each set of tyres)

On the commute - never. But that's because it's across central London with a Brompton and there's only a half-mile walk home from the station at the other end.

Always carry spares and spare spares for the pleasure of being able to give a tube and a couple of tyre levers to someone walking with a flat. The pleasure being that you haven't got the flat.

I agree with both sentences . Although I wouldn't "give" the tyre levers, only loan them .

Yeah but then you have to stand around waiting, or worse get involved. A couple of cheap levers from Decathlon is worth leaving behind.

Cheap levers wouldn't last 2 minutes against the might of a Marathon+ anyway (winky smilie)

Been using them since 2007 on my hybrid, I used to carry a kit at first but for the last few years I haven't bothered, tbh, that included a C2C and most weekends 40-50 milers. I do a lot of towpath riding on them with thorns and sharp flint, they are wonderful things. On the other 2 M+ free bikes, I never leave without a kit.

What is the point of throwing a pair of tyre levers at one, then swiftly disappear?
Only excuse for leaving is if you are going to be late for work imo.
The nice lady with a flat I had to leave the other day returned my spanner to the lbs.
Had to undo the wheel for her, hubby had tightened it with herculean strength!

Yes m+ for me, but pump and tubes too. The only puncture I have had was a 3 inch nail, and it was then I discovered that the cheap pump I had been carrying around for a year had frayed its airline in my backpack and was useless. So I now carry a topeak mini morph, which was £35 from my lbs and I have never used.

I still love my m+ tyres, though. Before them, I was getting punctures all the time.

Edit - for m+, I also carry small lengths of rope to help get the tyres on and off.
