Panter

Just call me Chris...
I had an unexpected deflation incident on my rear M+ on the way home.

There were two large hawthorn thorns stuck in the tyre, presumably blown onto the road by the strong winds (I ran over loads of twigs.)

Anyway, one of them caused the incident and I really struggled to get it out. I pushed hard from the inside of the tyre but there was nothing really to puch against and ther wasn't enough sticking out of the external side to grip.
I ended up removing them by digging at them with a screwdriver, squeezing the tyre to make them protrude and them pulling them out with my teeth
Ok, it worked but was far from ideal. Do you carry pliers for this sort of thing or is there an easier way?

Something similar happened to me a couple months back. Found two thorns stuck firmly in my back tyre Buggers to get out! Took a while to be sure that they wouldnt cause me a problem the rest of the way home.

I've since pinched a pairs of tweezers out of the bathroom cabinet - she still hasn't noticed .

Now they just sit in my saddle bag with all the other bits and pieces, waiting for the next time.

Got tweezers, i have a mini Swiss army knife on my keys, and my keys are always with me(after i didnt take them, parents went out and i was left standing outside the back door, very cold, with my buff over my head, everything zipped up, trying to keep warm)

I've got some 10 peice utility set - 6 hex, 2 screwdrivers, penknife, pin-type-thing - that is attached to the seat post. It suffices for most things that go wrong while i'm out including digging glasss shards out of the tyre.

in my touring bike kit I have a fake Leatherman which has pliers, so yes, but on other bikes, no....

+1

I have a single tool kit that travels on all the bikes, with small tool kits to suit the unique needs of each one.

FFS I thought I had gone soft after joining here a few years back - multi tools and stuff......

Carried a couple of tubes, a 'p' kit, some cardboard (for blow outs) and that as it..... FFS I've gone soft, now have an expensive multi tool thingy as well - it's not been used on my bike, but has on a few others......especially at the first CC track session.....no names.....and not on a bike.....;);)

This stupid 10+ speed stuff...................eh...;)

Been there...when I got my 8 speed stuff....first out "Why do you need that".... ;)
