Today my stepson had his hair cut off to donate to make wigs for cancer sufferers - which I was totally unaware was a thing! He had to grow it to 10" long and have it in a ponytail when it was cut and he also managed to raise sponsorship money at the same time. This came totally out of the blue as he hadn't mentioned it to anyone. His mum is so impressed that she's thinking of cutting her long hair off for the first time since 1995 to donate to the same cause.

Sadly, hair is just a memory for me but I thought I'd share in case anyone else might be as struck with the idea as I've been.

I did this in 1997 when I could just about sit on my hair. I went from very long to shoulder length. It was a huge shock.

Years later a good friend was diagnosed with leukemia and ended up with a human hair wig. I saw the difference it made to her and her confidence.

Well done young man you will make someone very happy.:bravo:

A young girl in our locality recently had her long hair cut and donated it to a charity that provides wigs to youngsters going through chemotherapy and such like.

But apart from the hair, they need to raise a lot of money to have the actual wig made from it.

Bless her, the young girl was trying to raise enough to cover that cost as well.

I am pleased to say that the ukulele band that I belong to made a donation to the cause - all our gigs raise funds for charity and we dont take anything for ourselves. To be honest, people pay to make us stop!

I'd like to help but sadly this is one thing I definitely can't do due to my hair having mostly departed this life.
