So I'm going down a road, there's something going on ahead & I can't quite work out (a mess of white & red lights). I pull passed the cars in front of me & get into a low gear & de-clip, work out what's going on leaving plenty of space for the going on ahead. Basically the person in front had charged down a line of cars & was forced back out again.

Fine, now the car in front of me pulls away & goes down the line of 7 cars then pulls in just before a skip. I realise she's very close to the skip & may need to reverse backwards, into a space barely longer than a bike, plus there's small space down stream of the skip. I continue passed heading for the space to get right out of the traffic. Oh no, woman goes to full lock & lurches forward, a scraping sound tells me she did make contact with the skip, & with some hand signs towards me before diving into the space the other side of the skip, which isn't actually big enough for a car. By this time I'm about 2/3 the length of the skip down stream the wrong side of the road, my only option is to punch passed 6 cars asap. When she finally passes me, about 2 miles latter, she yells "give way you idiot"

Did you actually have a clue as to what was going on around you, the space you had available to you & more importantly to me?

She was probably (wrongly) venting her upset at you because she was annoyed with herself for hitting the skip.

I often get cars overtaking me on the wrong side of the road while I'm in primary because there's a good reason they shouldn't be overtaking. Some woman did it a while a go because I was in primary so I could get into the right-hand turn lane. She roared past shouting 'Get in the f***ing cycle lane' before screeching to an undignified halt because there was a stationary queue of traffic she hadn't seen.

Luckily I pulled up next to her open-top convertible when I was in the right-hand lane and gave her a polite, cut-glass and very loud and jovial explanation for my road positioning when she'd sworn at me.

She was mortified, but apologised and agreed it made sense.

Sorry, clarification:

I'm in primary on the correct side of the road, the cars overtake me on my right crossing the dividing line so they are on the wrong side of the wrong for several second while overtaking me.

I'm not sure I follow what happened there... were you overtaking her as she was passing a skip parked on your side of the road?

Sorry, bit confused.

I was following her, she pulled in front of the skip but was very tight up to it & there wasn't much of a space behind her. I decided to pass as the gap behind her was small & there was a gap the other side of the skip, I could get much further out of the way of the on coming traffic there without getting in the woman's way if she needed to reverse.

Me too - on my cycle home there are always cars parked both sides of the road, so no cycle lane. I tend to cycle out of door reach, which means in the main lane. I do try be nice and nip back into gaps in the parked cars when they appear, but the number of cars that won't wait and go flying past, normally to squeeze back in front just before one of those island-things in the middle of the road (for pedestrians to cross the road in two sections rather than one).

I couldn't follow it either. A perfect case for a camera.

Oh, OK, thanks! That's the rightcorrect side of the road for overtaking, though.

It is but often they cross the white line despite oncoming traffic just to speed ahead when I'm normally in primary because something's blocking the road further down.
