Am I the only one that thought of Minecraft when I read "Creepers"?

  excellent (and ...sigh, typical)

I hate anyone who hangs on my rear offside, whether I'm in a car, on a motorcycle or on the bike. they are in a mirror blindspot (car and motorcycle) and are unerving on a pushbike

I don't mind some hanging back on my rear offside, providing they are waiting for an appropriate amount of space to overtake

The ones that annoy me (although not more than the dangerous idiots) are those who sit 100 yards behind you, refusing to overtake when it's perfectly safe to do so. You can just hear their engine and tyres, rolling along, never coming closer. Like a government spy, watching you.

It's bloody annoying.

I hate it when i am driving and I can't see a safe place to overtake and worry whether people are scared because I am not zooming past like a loony , or scared because they can her the engine noise of a large vehicle behind them.

and no matter how many times you wave me to pass you I am not going to cross the solid white line . cos if the worst did happen thats really going to stand up in court.

when i am on the cycle I am with DanB . neither I prefer them to give a safe clearance when passing

Same guy on the commute holds back for ages...even when it's totally clear on both sides of the road...then creeps by much too close shaking his head. Really freaks me out!

I hate creepers, I hate zoomers, But i'd rather have a wide zoomer then a close creeper

and no matter how many times you wave me to pass you I am not going to cross the solid white line .

I had a cyclist have a right barney at me the other day, driving along Brighton Road A259, just before the Norfolk Bridge in Shoreham, there is a long 'island' between the lanes, just as you approach the entrance to the Outdoor Activity Centre - which was where I was going.
There was an old boy on an even older looking Pashley style bike in front of me, I felt it unsafe/too close to overtake, especialy as soon after i'd be making a left turn, so I slowed down, changed gear & stayed behind him - with my left indicator on.
He tried to wave me past. I ignored him, he waved again this time obvioulsy shouting but being inside my tin box I couldn't hear a word of it. He began to slow right down, waving furioulsy.... Ummmm I began to think maybe i should pass him, but my conscience was saying no. He then totaly stopped, twisted right round on his bike & began yelling!! I drew alongside & wound down the passenger window...He told me I should have passed, he was waving me on, there was enough room to pass, and even called my hazrad perecption into question, stating if I was that worried about passing a cyclist i shouldn't be driving!!!
I politely pointed out that I was about to make a left turn, and that I felt overtaking a cyclist on a narrow road only to left hook him momnets later was rather rude & dangerous, and pointing to the 2 bikes on the bcak of the car told him it happened to me many times & I would never do that to another cyclist.
He huffed at me, called me a facist & set back off on his bike... I was in hysterics!

I prefer creepers, if they want to sit behind me for 5 miles when there are plenty of chances to overtake let them at least I know that they are not going to go past me and then slam on the brakes due to someone coming the other way, also, can I have a Tiger fall on me ?, softer than concrete.

When I'm driving a car, then I am the driver! Not the cyclist/horse rider/pedestrian in front. I and not they am legally responsible for any collision caused by any overtake that is not safe and I and not they will be making the decision as to whether it is safe or not.

What really annoys me is that the ones who try to wave me on are usually obviously not experienced drivers, they are usually too young (there are exceptions FM!). Blind bends, solid white centre lines - you name it, they'll wave me to overtake !

Wrong! It actually annoys the feck out of me when you're only given an inch of space on a totally clear road with a solid white line.

Rule 129

Double white lines where the line nearest you is solid. This means you MUST NOT cross or straddle it unless it is safe and you need to enter adjoining premises or a side road. You may cross the line if necessary, provided the road is clear, to pass a stationary vehicle, or overtake a pedal cycle, horse or road maintenance vehicle, if they are travelling at 10 mph (16 km/h) or less.

[Laws RTA 1988 sect 36 & TSRGD regs 10 & 26]

i don't know many cyclists that go less than 10mph . the last time i followed 2 they were tootling along at 15mph. cos i checked my speed to see if i could use that "get out" of 10mph

No matter what people do there will always be someone else who finds fault with them regardless, as funnymummy described. Matters little whether they are driving, on a bike or walking, because each person's perception is unique and colours their reaction to any situation.

If I get a creeper I slam on, because they're bound to cock up and I'll end up in a mangled mess in a rear wheel arch otherwise (or at least that's my thinking)

Where did subaqua imply he was going to overtake without crossing the solid line?

He won't cross the solid line " no matter how many times you wave me to pass you" - and nor will I. I (and I assume he) will continue to wait behind the cyclist(s) until there is a safe place to pass, we will not rely on a cyclist's perception of what our vehicles should be doing.

What problem do you have with this?
