I only ask because after polling a number of family members and colleagues it seems many of them are just not able to see the HD difference at all. They simple don't get it?

I do, and I love it - the difference to me is quite obvious and amazing, but for a technology that is destined to become the defacto for TV viewing it seems a little odd that quite a large number of my (albeit small) sample don't appear to appreciate the benefit.

Do you get HD?

I don't know that I've ever seen HD, so I don't know. I do think (being a bit of a luddite), that since I enjoy telly perfectly well on a B/W portable, HD is something I don't need to worry about getting.

But given the vast range of quality of human eyesight, I can imagine there are plenty who don't see the difference - their eyes, while perfectly good for them, are perhaps the equivalent of the crap telly.

I know that good hi-fi is wasted on me - my bro-in-law has a decent hi-fi, and in the past he's fitted some new upgraded bit and played a record, and I simply can't tell the difference between before and after. Just like some people have a more refined palate.

Yes - and I like the carefully-chosen litte trailers the BBC HD channel is using at present and which seem to show it off really well.

It's been years since I've watched a black and white telly. Can you still get B/W licences Arch, or do you have to pay the full whack nowadays?

B/W licence - about £47, so a real saving on colour. I don't know how long it'll be an option though.

I didn't until I was fortunate enough to be in a pub watching a match with 2 TV's, one HD and one not. When you can compare side by side there's a definite improvement in picture quality. Will need to be a few more HD channels around before I consider moving though - and will probably go Freeview as I'm loathe to line Murdocks pockets anymore with £10 extra a month for the same channels!!!

Yes.. agree especially with sports n nature programs as said before. However the big difference was noticeable after I adjusted the settings such as brightness, colour, etc... big improvement..

Depends. My Folks have a great TV that really shows up the HD, my in-laws TV is nowhere near as good in HD. HD on a good TV is outstanding. That said I've got a standard 100hz 28" tube TV and it's fine for what I watch.
