watch out with the chillis - they brun your taste bids out meaning that you put more in to get the same heat and it snowballs out of control. everytihing in moderation.

I'll be the chavs in india go for a fish and chips and 10 pints of london pride when out on the town.

I am. Put it in allsorts of stuff I'm making. Pour chilli sauce on a lot of things as well. Cheese on toast, pizzas, meat, fish etc....

Going to try growing my own

You can actually sow the seeds for chilli now in a heated propagator, but they do need to be heated at this time of year - just go down your local garden centre and get a packet or two. Once the seedlings get a couple of inches tall you can plant them on into pots. They do like it warm and so grow best in a green house or on a sunny window sill. We are still getting chillis off the plants we sowed earlier last year as we have kept them in a big pot on the window sill in our lounge. DO IT!!!!

Chilli is addictive, and IIRC it's because the heat part (as opposed to the chilli flavour) caused by the capsaicin and related compounds actually stimulates a pain response rather than a normal taste or flavour, which then triggers an endorphine surge which is of course the bodies own heroin. Sort of. It's simliar to exercise addiction, which is also partly endorphine based. So when you can't get chilli do an extra hard turbo session instead! It is an addiction as it follows the tolerance-dependancy-withdrawal pattern of addictions.
Personally I like New Mexican chillis, big and relatively mild, but then used as a vegetable in their own right so the food is as hot as indian et al. Also my local Tesco sometimes has Dorset Nagas, the hottest chillis in the world, half as hot again as the previous holder (Scotch Bonnets/Habeneros) and two thirds of the way to Pepper Spary!

My mates call me Indian boy as I eat Indian food probably at least 3 times per week. A combination of going out, making my own and takeaway.

If i'm on holiday and the Indian restuarants abroad are always crap I start getting withdrawal symptons and dreaming of curry, and it's the first dinner I go for when I come back.

Love all food but Indian just does it for me.

My favourite food, my particular favourite being chicken madras with a naan bread and meat samosa for starters.

I had it twice this weekend, friday and saturday. Mrs RH cooks them now to save the cash, the second portion was supposed to be frozen for next friday but i got to it on Saturday - yummy!

Think it's because we're spolied in Glasgow as there are some brilliant restuarants

Brum is wall to wall curry houses - lot's of them quite good. i live near about 5 or 6 and the smell drives me nuts! Impossible to diet round here.
 
Funny how many people make the connection Indian<=>curry<=>Indian! We have a modest repertoire of Indian dishes at home, but only one of them is properly described as 'curry'. Never mind. We also have a lot of other dishes that contain chilli in one form or another, and by no stretch of imagination could they be called 'curry' (Q.: does "guacamole" = "curry"?:biggrin::ohmy::ohmy: :biggrin:)

I was lucky enough to go to India last year and the food was amazing. Hmmm.... having read this thread I now want a curry for dinner tonight! :biggrin:
