Yes

Just occasionally I yearn for a simple pre-electronic cyclometer, where you got an odometer and that was it. (Average speed meant timekeeping, subtraction and division, without a calculator!)

It passes quickly though.

A Wired VDO (one for each bike) and the option of a Garmin Foretex does me.

I have an annual mileage target and like to know how far I cycle each month, part of a health and fitness programme I suppose..... I can't really believe I said that:biggrin::biggrin:
Not interested in average speeds and times, it's an achievement just to get there, I don't care how long it takes.

I use a raleigh echo and a cateye micro wireless and have a lidl one lying away some where. Other than the clock I don't use much of the features on them. I also have a garmin edge 305 and because more of the data is displayed on one screen I tend to note them more, however I'm not into pressing buttons on the ride and prefer to look at the data from my computers after the ride.

I broke two spokes on todays clubrun - one of which was holding my computer magnet. I kept looking down to check our speed, only to see a big fat 0 staring in my face:sad:

Yes, always and for 2 reasons.

When I'm out on my own I use it as a measure of my performance, these are generally purely solo rides where I'm out to work hard rather than socialise etc.

On social rides I tend to be riding with relative newcomers to cycling, or at least with people who cycle very infrequently. I find they take great pride in the distance they manage to achieve and it often acts as a motivator for them to continue cycling more often when I show them just how far they've gone.

Useful as it tells the time. I also like to keep an eye on how far I ride in a year and when it's likely to be time to clean and eventually change the chain.

I am constantly looking at mine and thinking along the lines 'How far have I come? 'How far have I to go?' 'When can I stop for a rest?' 'How far have I come' etc etc. It is my little friend and I would feel lonely without it as I always cycle on my own! Sad!
