Maggot, if you go armed with a small sharp bladed screw driver you can prise open the clip a litle bit and get the full cable tie, no bother!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I used to go in the stores at work and "rescue" packets of different sized ties before anyone could steal them.
Unfortuneately I now only have about 10 really small ones.
My ex, on the other hand, has 1000's in the shed !

That's not the point, there are times when you need one and the shops are shut. This is normally at the weekend when you're changing the position of the computer on the handle bars or the sensor on the forks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
