Doctor In The House

(Slightly worried as my last new thread resulted in rather a lot of criticism coming my way)

I have just been catching up on Doctor In The House as it had some good reviews. Very simple idea, GP spends lots of time with a family with health issues, gets to the bottom of the issues and sorts them out.

The solutions seem to mainly be lifestyle and diet based but what really seemed staggering to me was how the families seemed to live in such an unhealthy way and ignore their health.

It was quite an insight into the way people live. The Doctor also seemed a bit shocked at things (like the family that had no food in the house and just lived on takeaways).

Not just food and diet these days, too many people have a "don't care, can't be arsed" attitude toward themselves and others.

Very sad.

We caught a bit of one, dad a body builder with really bad back pains, kid with eczema. I am not medically trained but even before it was mentioned I said to TVC that the kids diet was probably mostly dairy and wheat, turns out I was right. Surely the parents had access to the internet.... I didn't watch all of it because some people are so ignorant and probably don't want the bother.

My colleagues daughter is over weight, apparently she is naturally big, the fact that she has a cooked meal at school every day, a cooked meal at home every day including finishing her brothers food if he doesn't eat it all and a slice of marmite or cheese on toast in the evening, is irrelevant

It is very easy to let it all go especially with a bit of depression thrown into the mix.

The firefighter last night seemed to recover a bit of self-respect and focus on his goal of getting back to fighting fitness.
