Thanks all.....it is definitely that, isn't it? I mean, a dying CMOS? The clock still runs, it just loses time. There's nothing else could be at fault?
It's more than likely that. For what it costs, a couple of quid and a bit of time - worth trying. Classic33's post mentions the likely part number, I got some duracell ones off ebay quite cheaply (just havn't got round to doing it yet as it's a little used pc that needs it).
