Does a Driving Instructor need a Dual control car?

It's not a legal requirement, but most do use them for the protection of their car! and our very lives!
They are very expensive to buy and fit, so its a big investment. I guess some either can't afford it, or feel they don't need it.

It cost me about £500 to have dual controls supplied and fitted.
I was a driving instructor for 3 years long long hours.
I would not have done the job without them they are a last resort but still saved my car or myself and pupils on a weekly basis.

Having been an instructor for a while, the Dual controls come in useful when a learner freezes at the wheel. I became quite adept at reading the stress levels of a learner and when my hand on the wheel and my feet on the pedals was a good idea.

I dunno how driving instructors make any money with the cost of motoring, especially those who are part of a franchise.

No, most of them have driving licences and don't really need supervision.

Why do they come with dual control if they are flown solo?

It's so the pilot can sit on the left when flying abroad.

There were a few times when I was learning that the dual controls were needed. On my first drive, I was doing a 3 point turn and nearly reversed into a parked car. I think dual controls are needed, just as a level of insurance.
