Well, after last night's "I made it up the hill moment" I'm going to try another tonight on the way to work.

Nothing huge but it can be a busy road (66ft ascent over a mile and a half, easy peasy  )

I've just got to keep believing in myself that I can do it and I'll be up there in no time.

With reference to your sig line, you'll breeze it, Gaz.

Do I remember reading elsewhere on here that you have a pretty hefty commute anyway? I'm looking at 20 miles each way, which doesn't worry me as a distance, but the second half climbs over 1,000 feet which, I must admit, is feeling a bit daunting at the moment. I know I've just got to do it but I've also just got to find the weather on my side for the first run. The prospect of getting up at 6am is bad enough without doing it to ride for a couple of hours in the rain.

Norm, my commute is nothing compared to yours. I only do 6 miles each way but I am slowly getting into doing some more miles on the way. I keep getting to work dead early lately because I'm going quicker so an extra 20mins or so in the saddle is more fun than sitting in the office.

Yahbutt, you are doing your commute on your bike.

I haven't built up the courage yet... although the weather tomorrow is looking pretty hopeful. I might just fit the cruds tonight.

Well, managed that so-called hill no problems. I even managed 10 miles instead of my normal 6.

I'm sure Pizza is my super fuel food. Every time I eat pizza then go out on the bike I feel invincible and seem to speed along.

I've always wanted to try this:

300ft+ climb in less than 0.5miles. It's so steep at one point you have to change down into first in your car just to get up it.

There's a very rural hill on my 20-25 mile summer commute route that I find a challenge every time. It's the bit of the journey that I anticipate most and get the biggest sense of satisfaction about completing. It's one of those that starts very gently and saves the worst gradient - almost logarithmically - until last. Definitely a lowest gear job near the top. Quite often, going the other way, there are baby rabbits scuttling about the entire descent.

I'm looking forward to reacquainting myself with it this summer, hopefully.
