I have been rebuilding a Apollo bike for a friend as she wants to get Into cycling. Bikes been striped and rebuilt ( never new how poor the components were) Come to put the chain on using a 6-7-8 speed chain link. The bikes a 5 speed but it should fit. Their is no way on God's earth I can get it to fit. Surgestions would be greatfull as I've waisted enough time on this.

Are you sure the quick link is a 5-8 speed ? Looking at the photo it does say 6 7 8 speed.
Why can't you get it to lock in position?

All the links I've looked at say 5 6 7 8 on the packaging. It's like the chain is too wide. I can't get the links to locate into the quick link enough too snap.

The 5 speed chain is wider than 7+ speed chain last time i had this problem sure i used a single speed link but don't quote me
