hi guys!!!

im new here, but have been "spying" on you all for a while!!!

im going to jump straight in the deep end here and maybe ask i "can o' worms" type question.

thing is, at my club we have a very talented rider. he started road racing last year and is a cat 2, and has done some very impressive time trial times.
thing is now, we have done all we can for him, and he cant progress (in our opinion) to his full potential whilst still at our club. he needs stronger riders to train with to step him up again!

so quite simply, is there any point in us contacting "teams" to see what they think? non of us have ever been in his situation, nor known anyone else be! were only a small club - 30 members!!!

any advice/info/thoughts?

thanks a lot!!!

3 days, no responses. I think you can see the wonderful state of English road racing and it's future in that. Good luck with getting the rider the help and support he needs.

that's something of a cheap shot at british cycling based on a lack of response on a single cycling forum, and not one which attracts a large number of racing cyclists at that.

to the OP, the best thing you can do is support the rider and encourage him to enter more higher profile races and obviously for him to do the best he can in them. enough good results will attract the attention of teams and sponsors.

Ian, I think a little more information as to the area you're living etc. could get some of the members giving the names of some clubs that it would be worth your while to contact. If that doesn't work then come back here again and we will try to give you some more pointers on what course to take.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course it is. I specialise in cheap shots. In fact, you might call me something of a blunt tool. But it might also get the OP a reasoned response and, in any case, you wouldn't have answered like that if you hadn't clocked my location, would you? Be honest now.

Here for rides.
what iLB said. Plenty of other forums out there with a much more racing slant, this one seems to be dominated by commuters and cafe types

I thought 'arse' when I read the first post and it wasn't until this post that I looked at location, makes no difference, still 'arse'.

Ian you can get Sport England funding to help the club and him go further if you really think he has the potential. eg further coaching training etc go take a look

My response had 4 letters too! What a coincidence.
