Then from nowhere two very decrepit coffin-dodgers in a Rover come past me on my right as I'm half-way round the corner !

I think there's something quite nice about seeing an elderly couple out enjoying a day together quite oblivious to any chaos they may be causing.
It keeps the rest of us on our toes.
Just as long as they were not speeding.

The Newcastle Metro has recently banned mobility scooters (Ashington Ferraris as they are known here) because the hideously obese soup dribblers driving them have been zooming across the carriages and out the other side. I bet they are involved in loads of other ped & cycle related incidents that don't get reported because flagging up saggy old fogies with bingo wings like bikers thighs isn't good press.

Don't get me wrong, there's a place for the things. I'm sure the old lady's Quality of Life is improved no end, but I guarantee that having 17st of me plough into her would reduce her Quality of Life quite dramatically.
