Brother is a driver / supervisor, its happened a couple times where lithium batteries have set fire to the truck. Near in mind these trucks are extraordinarily expensive...Heaven knows how.much if their electric one goes up.!!!!

Why would you put batteries in general household waste, unless you're unaware or/and an ejeet
There are batteries recycling bins in most shops!
We've binmen who'll check the recycling and often throw it into the binwagon. This has in the past included batteries that'd been bagged up for recycling. Oversized cardboard was something else they separated from recycling and threw in the binwagon.

I went to do a job at a recycling centre in Huddersfield on Monday, only to find it closed down, they'd ceased trading after a massive fire destroyed their plant in Norfolk, so chucking batteries in the bin has the potential to not only cause people to lose their jobs, they could also lose their lives

Our "recycling" goes in the same lorry as the general waste, we all know that.
But batteries don't go in the blue recycling bin (we should all know that!) they have to be taken to a supermarket or other big shop that have a battery recycling bin.
Well, it's more a big tub that a bin, but most big shops have them here in Glasgow.

Currently they're working with two separate vehicles here. One for the wheelie bin/bags, the other for recycling. Batteries used to be bagged, and then put in with everything for recycling, clearly marked.
All set for change in October this year.

I save them up in a 5 litre tub, then take to the tip when full, probably about every 6 months or so. They have a big crate thingy for them.
