Love it, each day I am saving pounds I can spend on cycling gear.

Winter spray from vehicles when its wet is unpleasant as you get covered in grime.
Just found a new route to work which cuts out all the hazardous sections which I have had to endure for the last 10 years, thanks to the NCN. Its a new opening which gives you access from the greenway on to a quiet industrial estate near to where I live, I think its only just been constructed.

Yeah so I get the bus !

The 'problem' with my cycle to work thing is that it only takes 25min max, 30 if I was to crawl.

An hours a nice time for a cycle ride or even upto 2hrs...

I only live 15 mins ride from work, but I go the long way so I get to do 16miles in 50ish mins.

No one says you must go direct.

For practical reasons I need a change over days (for clothes, towel etc) and I end up pining for the road ;)

It takes me half and hour to cycle to work, and 15 minutes to drive it.

I usually enjoy my cycle in, but when it's windy every bloody day!! it gets awfully tempting to just take the car.

There's really only one sensible route. It is very dull. I listen to music to make it less so, and over the years I have acquired six bikes. Using a different bike every day helps to relieve the tedium (well that's my excuse anyway).

Wind, Rain or shine.. I love my cycling commute.
Even to the point that I leave earlier so I can get some more miles in.

There's a fella on an orange Trek MTB (hardtail) who can keep pace with me at 26ish mph on Wilmslow Road. Don't see him often, but he's bloody fast.

I bet he was drafting you though:smile:
After 9 years of riding a road bike on and off ,I have never had a MTB rider overtake. I once had a fast one draft me a while ,but thats after me overtaking him.
It was hard to shake him off but he did give up after a few miles , . I will be surprised if any do overtake (doubt it will happen) well not until I am old and my legs dont have it  .

I regret it when I do go in the car, feel like a cop out.

I like the fact once you have got on it in the morning you are stuck with your decision and have to ride back on it, rarely think "oh bugger am on the bike".

Never sick of cycling; hacked off at the blustery headwinds that can make it such a strength-sapping effort sometimes but not at the cycling itself.

I get to and from work in less than half the time that the bus takes, I ride in rain without worrying about getting wet, and I get to see some stunning mornings and a myriad of wildlife that I'd never see if I'd been sitting on the bus.

It's just FUN

Only when its blowing a gale and your travelling at 0.5mph, but apart from that i enjoy cycling everyday as it comes even when it rains. Hate taking the train as i am sitting on the platform doing nothing for 5mins untill i hear on the tanoid that the train has been delayed by 10mins...now thats a bummer, and whats worse still is that you have to pay full fare for their incompetence!

If i don't take the train i save £2.30 which buys me something nice like lunch

My commutes not far, so no, i've never thought 'sod it'...in fact it bugs me if i dont commute by bike.
The only thing that will stop me is heavy rain...and then i'm gutted i cant ride.
Didnt miss one single commute this winter with the cold and snow, even at its worst.

Funnily enough, its other times i struggle. I'm going through that phase at the moment...Sunday afternoons my proper ride day, and this last Sunday, i couldnt be bothered.

Here for rides.
I chicken out, rather than get fed up, when the journey to and from work has to be done entirely in the dark. after a leg injury from r*nning my spring commuting started a month late so I'm working my way back up to five days a week. once I'm there I'll vary the route home a bit to get more miles/hills in and get some variety. still pleased that the hills seem to be getting flatter but the same route in can be tedious; perhaps I should get up earlier and take a longer route but the car drivers seem to exercise more control over their right feet during the peak vs before.

I can't really think of any other good option plus I need the exercise.

Sometimes when im cycling to work say the first six miles I wish I was already at work.

Same with coming back againt the wind tonight began to enjoy the last 3 miles.(and it got easier)

This morning although I left at 6am it was well light out.I really feel more at home during the dark commutes.

Came back to cycling about 1980. Been cycling to and from work ever since. Enjoy it mostly, sometimes its just boring routine, but would'nt do it any other way.

I find if I don't cycle I get bored. I stop looking forward to the end of the day when I can cycle home and relieve all of my stress by ploughing up t'hills on the way home. I do chicken out every now and again if I'm feeling tired or if the wind is really bad but it just makes me disappointed in myself for not being a double-hard bastard!
