One statistic I didnt want to see
Stay out of the zone and take care folks!

Whist I'm not down playing dooring incidents, those stats are meaningless without knowing the change in the number of cyclists. I would hazard a guess that the number of bikes on the road has increased between 2009 and 2011. For all we know, this may in fact show a decrease in the relative number of doorings, although I suspect it's somewhat static.

It doesn't really help when local authorities make facilities like this:

Even as a fairly experienced cyclist I find it hard to stay out of the door zone on this road.

There's a road near me with the car parking markings in the same place with the cycle lane moved right over to the left kerb - not very handy eh? Though, if I was Terminator 2 and could meld myself through the cars, it'd be fantastic!
