I'm hoping to move near Dorking this summer so my current 9ish mile commute will be at least tripling - think the fixie will be seeing a little less use (unless I can re-space an Alfine hub and squeeze it in there ;))

Any route suggestions? How do people find doing a 30 odd mile commute in winter, and how many times a week do you do it?

I used to commute from Woking to Dorking. That was 15 miles and took about an hour on a good run. I did that in winter too (roads aren't lit for my rote back). It was okay, not the easiest thing - especially as I don't have super powerful bike lights. I don't know where you'll be commuting to, but I wouldn't be able to do 30 miles each way.

Well from Dorking you will either go up the A24 over the Downs or you could just nip up that lovley little bit of road called the Zigzag hill!!!!!!

I took the A25...the A24 isn't too bad though, it has a reasonable cycle lane along the side of it - or you can use the duel carriageway.
