Hi
We will be doing a 5-6 week cycle "plod" north to south france on mainly cycle rotues - not hardened tourers. We have pannier racks and pannier bags - but nothing to go "on top". So expect one bike to carry tent+mats; and one bike to carry sleeping bags.

Anyway, checked our sleeping bags which are good and new (doh!) but these are lightweight 850g "mummy" ones (L+R) which join together. Great for a weekend away, but not comfortable enough for 5-6 weeks.

We are wanting a square/rectangular double, 2 season (wife feels cold), but will pack down enough.

Seems our 850g ones are very light, and double are more like 3.5-3.8kg, and a lot more bulky 44cm x 30cm ish.. Knowing size & weight is important. AND 5-6 weeks sleeping is very important - any suggestions?

All above have good general reviews. (Happy to pay more within reason for better)

Thanks

We have two single square bags zipped together when we car camp. When we're touring we just take our down mummy bags, OH did manage to zip them together when we were away in the summer, though I wasn't entirely comfortable, I like to spread out!
The problem with a double bag is that the pack size will be quite big and heavy for one to carry.
I'd concentrate on looking for two square singles that can zip together.

I find a double sleeping is too bulky on a bike. It also depends where you are going cycling. A double sleeping bag in Italy during the summer would be far too hot.

I know they are bulky, but for 6 weeks having anything other than a double just won't suit how we sleep together. For a weekend we'd cope! We're cycling to the Med (south France) end June/early July.
We've also looked for 2 rectangular ones that can join so open on that idea, just can't find anything. Our 2x lightweight mummies zip together but not enough movement for a long trip.

Outwell are releasing a new "Campion" model in March - which may be the best bet/VFM, http://www.campingworld.co.uk/Models.aspx?ModelID=10925 - 2.5kg and one of the smallest I've seen - on par with tent that will be on one bke, and this on the other. I'll see if I can see one in the flesh in March.

Thanks for the links above too

What are you going to be sleeping ON? Insulation from the ground is important, especially if you feel the cold.
