Dave Taylor did that over 35 years ago. May well have been 1978 or thereabouts. I was watching at Glen Helen when he came past.

There seems to be some doubt about this, but what a guy some of his stunts were brilliant, sadly he is no longer with us.

I remember the commentary on Manx Radio at the time. They said he'd done it.
I wouldn't give MCN reporting much credence. They can't even get Dave Taylor's bike correct - it was a Honda CR. It ain't the paper it used to be when there was 'The Motor Cycle' to keep them honest.

More than could be said of his dad. I had a run in with him on a trials section many years ago when he disputed a marking. Nasty piece of work.

I had no problem with anyone disputing a decision - I draw the line at angry threats of physical violence right in my face.
