there'll be someone along in a minute to tell you it's a waste of money and it can all be done using a toothpick, a dog chew and a load of youtube videos

He did the 5 day level two park tools course (I hope this means something to you) said it was good value for money but that they had a strange way with chain cleaning and don't teach the mickle method (burn them! stone them!). It was good vfm, will save him a fortune in servicing costs in future and has extinguished any desire he once had to be a bicycle mechanic rather than a vastly overpaid 'IT consultant'.

He realises it could all be done using a toothpick, a dog chew and a load of youtube videos but that approach does not suit his learning style.
