I remember seeing some documentary about a 1950s dinner party where dry weetabix with an unnatural looking savoury topping were served as 'nibbles'. I always thought dry weetabix were the preserve of terminally stoned students with the munchies but I guess creativity knew no bounds in the 50s... weetabix are so modern, after all...

Tesco Value burger + Cream of Mushroom cup-a-soup = Steak Diane.
Or Beef Stroganoff, if you slice up the burger and add a bit of sour cream. Or sour milk.

Venison should be easy and cheap to source. You just need an old Volvo, a road with deer on, a fair amount of courage and a Stanley knife.
A strong sawing arm helps, as would a lack of squeamishness.
