This would generally indicate that my galaxy is faster than my rockhopper?

this does not allow for:
random traffic,
bad weather (going slower)
as the year (season) goes on I generally get fitter & faster...
I used the rockhopper mainly for the first part of the year
my fastest time was on the rockhopper - the later 5 times on the rockhopper were as the weather 'warmed' up .

The major issue affacting speed on a bicycle is generally wind resistance unless average speeds are very low.
That may partly explain the differences between the Rockhopper times and the Galaxy.

I think you should have tossed a coin and randomised your choice of bike like the doctor did, although your results seem to indicate it takes about 100 minutes whichever you ride?

I weigh 80kg
so on the light bike total load is 89.5kg and on the cheap bike it is 93.5kg or naff all different (about 5%).
On a commute I would (as most do) go for a comfortable and enjoyable ride.

You will not get along any quicker in a sports car if you are in a traffic jam.
