Anyone else feel this was by far the worse Dr Who ever........... really poor..... not happy as a great fan of the new stuff, this was dire......................... just not up to par, not even a 'regular show' - this was poor.............. don't get me started on the 'fish'...........

Not at all. I thought it wasn't bad as christmas specials go - compared well with The Christmas Invasion and The Runaway Bride. Also compared very favourably to some of the other weak specials such as Planet of the Dead which was incredibly weak. They could have chopped 15 mins off this one, but other than that few complaints.

I thought it was a very clever rewrite of Scrooge, but it was a bit weak, could have done with beefing up a bit. I liked the idea of the fish that swam in the mist.

I thought it was very dull, shame really as it's one of the shows I was looking forward to over Christmas.

At least I have Christmas Eastenders to cheer me up once I get around to watching it

TBH - It was one of the shows I was looking forward to - recorded it and watched it last night as we were out....... TBH, the whole family were bored with it......too slow............. shame really........

The story line was clever...kept telling this to myself......over and over......................but it was dull............ none of us were impressed............ dull as dishwater !!!

I'm a big fan of the newer Dr Who...but this was poor...........

I enjoyed it and was pleased that it wasn't a really scary one as my son didn't want to watch it in the evening and was trying to argue that we watch it the following morning. And I did hear a snuffle or two in the room.

Totally agree. It was about the only thing that we wanted to watch all evening but we might as well not have bothered. I was quite looking forward to Katherine's 'acting' debut, but she didn't did she?

Summerdays, I can only assume that the snuffling was because someone had a cold?!

The DW Xmas special is always DW light... this one wasn't as bad as some IMO, but one thing I don't like about this latest series of DW is the Doc uses time travel as means to an end. The final episode of the last series he was flicking back and forth through time and having a really easy job... he did the same to get the safe key from the old man to the young lad. This is something the doctor never used to do and frankly its copping out of good story telling... which is a shame as this last series has shown some of the best story telling in the franchise (and a very nice pair of legs!)... in my humble opinion

Nope. Definitely one of the better specials. Was absolutely Dr. Who light, but as always with Moffat there was a helluva lot crambed the running time too. Was also nice to have a relatively "small" Christmas story compared to RTD's which year on year (like his series climaxes) got BIGGER and BOLDER and yet somehow weaker at the same time.

I liked that the Dr. didn't save Jenkins through some technobabble and that her fate is to live just one more day. The fish weren't as cringeworthy as the premise might suggest - I must admit I feel it could have done without the sleigh ride, but then I remind myself: it's a kids show at heart. My 8-year-old self thinks a shark pulling a sleigh through the sky is pretty damn cool, even if it is a bit Ace Rimmer.

Oh, and I'm starting to think Matt Smith is becoming one of the stronger Doctors.
