Don't worry, not gonna steal your ideas for the show, just wondered what sort of inventions cyclists would come up with if they could invent a new aid to assist cyclists?

I came up with the concept of a protected bike park, shower, locker and spin club to be distributed across town for commuters, whilst in holiday...even had meetings with a VC firm set up for my return along with some initial designs.... only to find that some other fella had come up with the idea 12 months earlier

I thought about a convex mirror, fitted to the flat part of handlebars so that you can keep your head down whilst speeding along without breaking up your aero profile so often by sitting up to check the road ahead.

Could you not do that with a 360° periscope?

A Dept of Bicycle Studies within Dept of Transport, where they could develop and test bicycle facilities and layouts, and provide education to local authority planners and others.

consultation on DfT Cycling Delivery Plan
"We are concerned that DfT has yet to produce acceptable official design standards that will ensure that cycling facilities are properly designed for existing roads and in new schemes, particularly for busy routes and junctions where cyclists are especially vulnerable. Whilst there are many dedicated and talented highways design engineers working for local highway authorities, without effective standards drawn from international best practice, it is clear that provision will continue to be variable."

You know those robot vacuum cleaners? Well I'd invent a bike cleaning robot. It would look like a kind of lizardy thing, and would crawl over your bike, cleaning and re-lubricating the the chain and gears, cleaning the frame and generally sprucing it up. You'd pop it on your bike when you got home and in the morning - bingo, a cleaned and re-lubed bike.

Now the small matter of inventing it.
