Drink driving ban

A question to ask , curiousity more than anything . If someone was banned from driving and made to resit their driving test. Would they get the same licence back or would it be a new licence and new licence number ?

Mine has DR10 on it...and its still a paper licence..

The only part of the licence number it would be possible to alter are the last two digits, the rest would have to stay the same. I doubt they would alter them as it would make it more difficult for plod to call up your driving history the next time they found you rat arsed behind the wheel.
