Depends on the length of the ride.

If I'm doing over 3 hrs, I have water + Vimto :thumbsup: in large bottle 1; water + electrolyte tabs in bottle 2; water + energy stuff in bottle 3. I'll have a rehydration drink and a feed at a stop (usually after about 3-4 hrs); then repeat as necessary until finished !

The key is to 'drink before thirsty; eat before hungry'. I do my drinking by the clock ;) - a mouthful every 15-20 mins and eat every hour - though I need to train myself to nibble every 30 mins, really.

On short rides (under 1hr.30) I just take whatever ....
 
Depends on the duration/intensity. For higher intensity events I like to use energy drink weather homemade or torq, it seems to be important to get salts back into the body. For lesser intensity events I'll water it down more or just use water on its own. I also find it useful for higher intensity events to pre-hydrate (sip something before I head out).
