Drinking cold water - is it bad for you?

Mate of mine swears blind that drinking cold (fridge cold) water is bad for you. He reckons it solidifies fats from your meal in your stomach, which can then cause cancer and ulcers etc. Anyone else heard this before?

I would've thought that the body temperature would quickly heat up the cold water soon after it reached the stomach.

Never heard of it causing cancer and ulcers, but drinking ice cold water straight after a meal does solidify the fat etc making it harder to digest.

Neat absinthe is a better proposition. It dissolves most fats and forms an easily digestible emulsion. No chance of ambergris in your stools with absinthe.
