The rich/powerful are steering the world towards dystopia!!! It seems like that to me anyway.

Edit: Mind you, I tend to think that about mostly everything. Must be a sign of aging.

I've noticed that these days we are awash with cars parked appalingly badly. It seems that now folk just dump vehicles anywhere they like, often parking badly on corners etc, sometimes blocking the whole pavement to avoid double yellow lines.

And then there's the frustration and road rage brought on by congestion which causes humans to do stupid things. Take a couple of nights ago for example. I'm sat in the ASL turning right, que of cars to my right. Lights change, off I go. As I turn right into the road, imagine my surprise when I come face to face with dumb driver on the wrong side of the road:ohmy:, barging to the front. I dismounted onto the pavement and shouted across that she shouldn't drive dangerously like that etc, but she just ignored me, driving off as the lights changed. Stupid, really.

Same as it was IMO - maybe the issue is perceived to be a lot worse in the South?

Space is at a premium, the chance to open the taps safely in a car has all but disappeared, therefore some people do it when it's not safe.

Walking the dog this evening I came across a fish salesman, of all things, who'd parked his van square across the footpath. I asked in a loud voice what male appendage thought it was ok to park like that and he stepped out of his van, chest puffed indignantly out, only to go scurrying back when he realised he gave up 10" in height and 80lbs in weight. Afterwards I was a bit angry at myself for letting anger get the better of me and breaking my own rule about on-street confrontation, cos it got no where and I don't suppose for a single second the fool will miraculously repent his parking sins.

Paths are for pedestrians. What is so bleeding difficult about that concept that makes it difficult for the society of 2015 to grasp?

And the poor standard of on street parking also boils my pish. We should be like Japan, where before you're permitted to purchase a car you have to get an official certificate which proves you have somewhere on private land to park it. No certificate, then you're restricted to only the tiny Kei cars.

So you make something up then argue against it to prove your point?

Not at all. It is a proviso to prevent an argument that there is no relationship between driving standards and accident statistics. It is perfectly reasonable to make that assumption and I did it, and made it clear that I did it.

Are you suggesting that driving standards don't impact on accident statistics? If that's your position then we can all continue without any need to worry about them can't we?

Modern life is rubbish and all that. But the facts don't support it
