Probably because it's the last work day before xmas for most, so everyone seemed in an extra hurry, were even more inconsiderate than usual and generally really bad. Had a higher rate of close passes than usual and lots of agressive tailgating.

Anyone else noticed the madness increase today?

I've not ridden today, but I have noticed an increase in poor driving over the last week or so.

Not just drivers being prats unfortunately! On my way to work this morning at about 6am I had an older teenager ride out between parked cars on his bike with no lights without looking and while staring at his phone. He was lucky because I didn't spot him coming and missed him by about 3-5mtrs. He just assumed that because he didn't hear anything coming the road was clear. A few miles later I made an older lady nearly jump out of her skin when I whispered in her ear that she should really look before crossing the road, again she thought quietness = nothing coming

TBH I have seen very few incidents when I have been out these past few weeks (even for the whole of December). I think it is a real improvement over the summer and I am glad of it. I am much more relaxed when out and can concentrate on the lovely scenery (and not-so-lovely weather).

Had some really bad ones over the past week. Today not so much.

It could also have been people wanting to get home to their loved ones before the end of the world... (snigger)

The traffic was really heavy and stop/start stuff. I expect lots of drivers getting frustrated - I wouldn't have wanted to be in a car trying to get into town today (or out of it later). However I managed my own bad cycling - cycling in the door zone on a back street just as the door opened. Not hit but certainly gave myself and the driver a shock. (Again it's a day when I'm feeling under the weather).

I commented on the driving this morning as well, out in the lanes it was great, but Coventry was mad.
