Gee… we’ve nothing properly useful or reliable in the lineup, let’s make a replica of one of our old show cars and see if we can drum up some business.

I once worked on the development of a component for a new six speed transmission for Fiat. After a couple of years of hard work by everyone involved Fiat deemed the complete unit ready for production. Twenty thousand transmissions were manufactured and far too many didn’t work so the new unit was deemed too unreliable to be used in a Fiat.

Let that soak in for a moment.

The unit was used in the next new Alfa platform.

Good to see that they are doing a BEV version of it.

Alfa engineers train at Land Rover

Aye, but they still mess it up using Bosch electrial components. The 147 Selespeed I had as a co car was lovely, but loads of electrical issues and everything was Bosch !

Aye, people still get misty eyed over the Bosch name, but the modern far Eastern manufacturered product isn't the automatic guarantee of quality it was 40 years ago.
