I want to swap the drops on my Jamis Aurora 2015 to trekking bars.My spec is here https://www.evanscycles.com/jamis-aurora-2015-touring-bike-EV210733

48/36/26T
Cassette
11-32
Chain
SRAM PC951
Brakeset
Tektro 992 forged alloy cantilevers
Brake Levers
Tektro RL340 road brake lever
Handlebars
Jamis Ergo, 6061 aluminum, 31.8 x 380mm (47), 400mm (50/53), 420mm (55), 440mm (57/59/62)
Stem
Jamis adjustable threadless system (ATS) forged aluminum stem, 10? x 90mm (47/50), 105mm (53/55), 115mm (57/59/62). ATS shim length 100mm
Shifters
microSHIFT bar end shifters with index or friction option, 27-Speed

The only deviation from the original spec is the cassette. I bought an 11-32 and the trekking bars of course.

I think I will have to change the full brake system so I am planning on buying some Shimano Deore brakes.

What I am not sure about are the shifters. I want the thumb shifters but I am not sure of the compatibility with my FD and RD. Ideally it would be better/cheaper if I did not need to change them and I just needed to buy shifters.

Any 9 speed shimano shifters should work, either thumbies or the two lever rapidfire things. Are you going to V brakes or staying with the cantis?

You don't have to change the brakes, if you fit flat-bar road levers rather than MTB, although I'd be tempted to go for v-brakes anyway.

I was under the illusion that I would need to move to v brakes so that was my plan.

Any shimano shifter sounds good. Is that for the FD as well.

Cheers
