I went to Drumlanrig with a small group yesterday, fanatastic trail, we combined the Red and Black together, this made for quite a hard ride, no huge climbs (although a couple of very steep bits), but constantly up or down and the Black section is narrow and quite technical in some places, the trees are very close to you, and there are lots of roots, well worth a trip.
Cafe was fine, and the guy in the bike shop is very helpful, he also built the trails.

Finally, if you enjoy slightly spirited driving then the roads to get there are amazing and very quiet.
