My wife wants us to do this, mainly as its easier for her to not drink, but its my birthday right in the middle. For me to have a drink I have to get permission from any 'sponsors'. What sponsors....?

I don't think anyone will sponsor me to give up. I said to the wife that she wouldn't allow me to do the 'movember' stuff ever.... Without divorce.

Good luck, me, I won't be promising I can do it, I plan something else this year.
