I'm well aware of most people on here's attitude to soaps...

I 'sort of' watch Eastenders - I have the telly on for company as much as anything, and if it's on, I follow it (although often I'm online at the same time). I can miss it, and not be bothered.

I'm probably more au fait with The Archers, but then, they are family....

If you enjoy it then fair enough.

I admit I used to tune into the archers a few years back. I enjoyed it for a while, but it's appeal faded. Don't know if they changed the writers or something.

I used to 'watch' East Enders but haven't done so for years now. It got a bit far fetched. I also used to avidly listen to The Archers then somehow was either out or Mr Campfire laughed at me listening to it! The only soap I do watch nowadays is Emmerdale, where it has completely lost the original 'farmers' soap but is so much more far fetched & fun. I don't think they'd have any audience nowadays if they had kept to the original Annie and co (never watched it in those days)

I also spend a fair bit of time alone so, it is sort of company even though you're not always watching!

I suppose "Suggest your favourite episode ending" would be too much for the average Eastenders viewer

"Send us your DuffDuff" is about the right intelligence level

Used to watch years ago. Now, any time I see a little bit of it, I feel it has become the most depressing drivel ever made and always seems to involve people shouting at each other. I don't watch TV as a general rule now.

I am constantly amazed how reasonably intelligent people, mostly women, get so hooked on shed load of mindless drivel.

My wife would let me fall into a diabetic coma rather that get my dinner when "Emmerdale" is on.........

Soaps. Yawn.. Zzzzzzzzzz.

Snob. Everyone knows the way Eastenders ends, it's a light hearted way of drawing on that. I think it's quite a fun idea, even if, as I said, they seem to have chosen congenital a-rythymics to do the trailers.

May I suggest saddlebum, that you get your own dinner? Emancipation is a wonderful thing, many men are really quite capable at cooking these days...

Anyone who whines about soaps, but watches football is on shaky ground where I'm concerned....

I'm willing to bet there's something I'd yawn at....

Each to their own and all that. I only watch the one soap, and that only out of habit, but I can think of far worse telly...

On the other hand, the lovely Dr Ian Stewart is on soon, with his geology programme....
