Being a bit of an old git, I'd not heard of Duffy until she was on the Culture Show a couple of weeks ago.

Yesterday, a disabled neighbour asked if I could get her new album (released today) and I'm just having a quick listen before I deliver it

It's pretty good.

Who is she? I've only just heard of her now. And I'm not even particularly old (although I did buy Chris Rea's new album earlier today).

She has a great voice, (and is purdy, too  )
Why is it, though, that all females with good voices HAVE to hark back to a classic soul sound of the 60s (Motown, Stax etc) (think Amy Whinearse, Joss Stone etc).
I ain't complainin', like, as I like that kinda sound, but it's becoming a bit of a cliche. However, I like what I've heard of Duffy so far.

Err, she's Welsh and cute and been at No1 in the UK chart for the last 2 weeks at least with the single "Mercy" a big-band stylee Jazz song voice...like this...

Some nice Northern Soul moves going on in the vid...Wigan Casino remembered...

Sure she'll get some Dusty Springfield comparisons too.

Sadly she has had the 'The new Amy Whinehouse' label attached to her but it's all great stuff....and I see the co-writer worked with my favourite songstress Emiliana Cutie-chops...so it MUST be good!!!
