I want to take part in this year's Dunwich Dynamo but it seems I've left it too late to book a coach/van space to get back to London on Sunday. So I thought I'd drive to Darsham station on Saturday, leave the car there and use the train to get me and my bike to London and ride back to Darsham at the end - but my local station says that the 'bike reservation' slot on their computer is grayed out so they can't reserve a space. (I'm guessing that they've already been taken.)

Anybody got any experience to share or ideas for alternative solution? Am I likely to be able to just turn up at Ipswich station on Saturday and get a train down for the start?

I am toying with the idea of leaving my car at Dunwich on Saturday as I may load up a camping stove, chairs etc for the CC posse rather than having to queue for the breakfast but at the moment undecided on whether to ride
to Darsham and chance it on the train to Ipswich or just cycle to Ipswich or whatever. I am booked on the 4 something (can't remember till I get home) train ex Ipswich to Liverpool Street on the Saturday.

What time are you thinking of getting over on Saturday ?

Brainstorming is this any good for you ?

We meet at Dunwich, I leave my car there and we drive to my work at Great Blakenham (just outside Ipswich) where you can leave your car in our secure car park.

Cycle to Ipswich train station (about 30 mins) and get train from Ipswich, arrive in London and hopefully meet someone who knows the way to London Fields.

On the Sunday after the ride I give you a lift back to Great Blakenham (Right on A14) where you can collect your car and head off home ?

Depends on timings really of when you intend to arrive over here and what time you want to leave for the drive back on Sunday.

You cannot reserve a bike space on the Darsham to Ipswich leg of your journey, but you're unlikey to be contending with many other riders. You can reserve a bike space for Ipswich to LST - I've just tried it using Southern Rail's website.
I use their site because it is one of the few (NXEA as well) which allow you to make bike rezzies - regardless of where in the country you are traveling.
You have to click on the first 'Buy now' option before it'll allow you to access the bike rezzie bit.
I just did a bogus 'purchase' - £8.00 single Darsham to LST via Ipswich with a bike and seat rezzie for the Ipswich to LST part. Arrives LST at 17:55.
