Yes I saw them circling over my garden this afternoon. Buggi, if I'd known you were so close....! Plenty of tea at the rjh household.

Mind you, you say you saw 17 in a dogfight. I only counted 12 as they came over. Did 5 get shot down?
I think so. I was saying to my brother,I bet they can't resist pretending they are in a real dog fight and making machine gun noises at each other. I mean you just would wouldn't you?

The commentator said they were just going to scramble and then do one fly by and my dad was like, "right, it's over, lets go". Me and my brother were like... "No way... They're not gonna send em up for one flyby!! They'll be coming back!"

Sure enough, we got treated to a right spectacle. Think my brother was actually crying! And I'm not kidding.

He got a great film shot of a spitfire coming in to land and the propellers reversing just before it touched down. I'll get him to upload it to youtube so I can show you. Looks awesome. We didn't film the dog fight. Not sure if we'll regret that but it was hard to film without missing the show, if you know what I mean... We didn't wanna watch them squinting through our phone screens in the sun. Besides there were too many of them all over the sky and both of us just wanted to stand and watch and take it in. The noise is amazing too.

It was actually scary how close they fly together sometimes. I don't think anyone here even drafts that close! They also had a typhoon flying in formation with a spitfire. My brother was like WTF? that's like a Ferrari traveling behind a bicycle... Haha

There was a Lufthansa Airbus 320 heading for Heathrow at the time; we know who to blame!

Me and the girls saw the Typhoon & Spitfire display team at Cosford earlier this year. Unfortunately, it was a Typhoon in standard trim, rather than the drop-dead gorgeous Battle of Britain paint scheme:
