Is he prejudiced, actually, or does he just use the language of prejudice as part of his charm.
Nothing definite anywhere. Best I can find: http://www.glbtq.com...opic.php?t=1294 Some other sources say the word bulldyke is as old as the word dyke or precedes it, which is interesting.
As with all words that have been "reclaimed", it's pretty much a matter of who uses it and how. Context context context.
I don't think the word is always negative. In fact when I first read the thread title, not realizing it referred to that article, I thought someone was trying to summon the lesbian contingent of Cycle Chat members (is there one?) for a pleasant all-lesbian Sunday ride...
I think they are more interested in the camera than him.

Add to those reasons the generic 'it's a chance to be on TV' and you've got what I always assumed was the draw as well. And the girls on Top Gear, I always assumed they were with their boyfriends and making the best of it.
Or if it was me, I'd be lusting after Hammond. Or May.
One contingent, or one lesbian?![]()
Balding would be an equally crap presenter if she was straight.![]()

I knew she was gay but frankly don't care, it's no business of mine, so long as she does her job & enjoyed the programme anyway.
There does seem to be this attitude of people trying too hard to not let sexuality be a prominent part of who someone is. I believe it is a large part of what makes someone who they are, it's a huge part of their life. Either way, they should be proud of it, without doubt, but I become tired when people are quick to mention it's not their business.
