Dysfunctional brakes, Help please

I'd try replacing the full cable run (ins and out) and if that doesn't work the shifters might be showing signs of wear as I believe where the brake is pulled from it uses a plastic part so could be starting to wear thin.

Fair enough. I'd certainly buy off here in preference to fleabay every day of the week myself

Just to let you know that I manage to get this sorted and this is what I did.
I removed callipers and cleaned and lubricated them so that arms are working well. Replaced the cables, pads were new anyway. It is now working well. They are never going to be as good as 105 set but good enough for a safe ride. Thanks for all your help.
