But yes, the products are crap. Dan_Bo just needs to suck it up.

Just put together a dcwhatever for the MiL and gawd it was crap. Shoddy. Fisher price would have rejected it.
I recently stripped down my DC14 to replace the motor. The build quality was similar to the Meccano things I used to build when I was 8 years old.
Tomorrow at work I have to strip down a DC07 "Animal", which looks to be similar to the DC14 but with some overly complicated clutch system built in. I suspect the clutch is to blame for the non operation of the sweeper brush.
On the performance front though, I quite like them. When properly sorted with clean filters and parts working as intended, they do a better job than some of the much more expensive brands available.
