A Minging Manc...
My wife insisted on the DC01 when it was quite new and found it marvellous, albeit quite expensive. It gave us years of sterling service and we inevitably brought another Dyson, can't remember which model now. As time as gone on we got up to a DC07...it just wasn't as well built as the early models and we've moved away now to other brands.
The early ones really were (IMO) good as as good if not better than many other makes...but it's just not true anymore I think.
This really. Early models effective and serviceable. Later stuff is not in the same league.

I've got a Henry (over 20 years old) and a Dyson DC14 (13 years old). Both have their strengths and weaknesses, but nothing sucks like an electrolux

My front wheel cycled through some wet dog poo once and flicked it into my face. That sucked more than an Electrolux.

We bought one of their bladeless fans earlier in the year when it was really hot, as I can't sleep in heat, and Mrs. IRW can't sleep with the noise of a standard fan. We were blown away by it...!

In seriousness, it is actually really good, and practically silent at the low levels I have it on at night! Apparently it also cleans the air at the same time, to a degree- something that seemed like a useful feature given our house currently, and for the near future, is 'a work in progress'.

Dysons are a marketing gimmic, they're crap, the only hoovers worth their salt are Miele ones, once you've used on of them, anything else is a deeply unpleasent experience!

We have had a Dyson for a few years, and it is much better than other vacuums we've had. I think though that the powered revolving brush is a great help. Saying that though, the ease of removing the cylinder and emptying the fluff is a big bonus as well. Politics aside, I admire him as an inventor.

Have the EU not fubared them, reduced the Max power? 900w Max now and the article I read suggested the UK avg was 1600w. The saving was £4 per year, whoopee doo.

Early Dysons were so well built they choked off their own market. If the damn thing doesn't break who is going to replace it? I feel the newer models are much less robust, and thus when our Dyson DC01 died after umpteen years of service we went Bosch.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
10 years ago when i wanted a new cleaner, i wanted a dyson but the shop salesman talked me into buying a Sebo. It's a complete load of rubbish. Uses old fashioned bags, no tools and is generally pretty pathetic.

My son has a dyson and swears by them. I think it''s a bit like buying a bike. Some you like, some you don't. Some are perfect for you, and some are not. :okay:
